Initially, they tried using paper and bubble wrap, but this approach led to broken products and packaging that did not reflect the value of their glassware. Their outside sales team turned to American Foam Products to develop a better way of transporting and highlighting their materials.

The Solution: a Pelican Case with Foam Inserts

The team at American Foam Products recommended a definitive approach: A Pelican case outfitted with custom foam inserts. For this specific project, our team recommended the Pelican Protector 1650 case.

Our engineering team first physically laid out all of the sample glassware from Scientific Products to ensure the case inserts met the sales team’s functional needs. To maximize both protection and useability, our team crafted a dual-layered design. We then translated that physical mock-up into a digital CAD design.

We precisely cut cavities in medium-density polyurethane foam to cradle each piece of glassware, which included finger notches in each cavity to simplify the task of removing glassware and refine the user experience. We then employed a bandsaw to trim the foam insert so that the sample glassware lay flat and flush with the polyurethane foam trays, ensuring uniformity and stability.
